Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy is a rehabilitation technique that harnesses the physical properties of water to restore joint mobility and build muscle strength in animals. It is commonly recommended following orthopaedic surgery, for dogs and cats with arthritis, or during recovery from musculoskeletal injuries. Sessions take place in a heated therapeutic pool or on an underwater treadmill, where buoyancy reduces the load on joints while water resistance provides gentle, effective muscle conditioning. A qualified veterinary physiotherapist supervises the animal throughout each session, adjusting intensity and duration to suit the individual patient's condition. Owners typically observe a gradual improvement in gait, reduced pain levels, and an overall improvement in quality of life.
