Craniosacral therapy

Illustration in progress

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle manual technique in which the therapist uses light touch on the skull, spine, and sacrum to detect and balance the rhythms of the craniosacral system. In animals, it is used to relieve chronic pain, muscle tension, and connective tissue dysfunction, as well as to support recovery after injury or surgery. Dogs and cats with neurological conditions, anxiety, or orthopedic disorders may benefit particularly. During a session, the animal rests or stands in a relaxed position while the therapist releases tissue restrictions using minimal pressure. Sessions typically last 30 to 60 minutes. Practitioners are expected to hold specialised training in veterinary manual therapy.
