Ozone therapy
Ozone therapy is a complementary treatment method in which medical-grade ozone – a mixture of oxygen and ozone – is used to support recovery in pets affected by a range of conditions. It is most commonly recommended for chronic wounds, skin infections, inflammatory conditions, and oral or dental disease. Ozone has antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, while also promoting local circulation and tissue regeneration. Treatment can be applied topically – using ozonated oils, baths, or direct exposure – or systemically via rectal insufflation or ozonated saline solution. The procedure is carried out by a trained veterinarian using specialised equipment for the safe generation of medical ozone. Owners should ask about the practitioner's experience and training with this method before beginning treatment.
