Stem cell therapy

Illustration in progress

Stem cell therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses stem cells to repair damaged tissue in animals. It is most commonly recommended for dogs and cats with osteoarthritis, joint or cartilage injuries, and to support recovery following orthopaedic procedures. Stem cells are typically harvested from the animal's own adipose tissue or bone marrow, processed in a laboratory, and then injected into the affected area. The harvesting step requires general anaesthesia, while the administration itself is minimally invasive. Owners can generally expect to see improvements in mobility and a reduction in pain within several weeks of the procedure. The technique falls within the broader field of regenerative veterinary medicine.
